After another successful evening edition in 2015, the Mizuno Ekiden race returns for a third instalment on 19 August 2017 at The Promontory @ Marina Bay.

In Japanese terms, Ekiden refers to a relay-styled long distance running and that is exactly how the Mizuno Ekiden 2017 will work. Runners are set to compete against the clock whilst unlocking milestones as they transmit from one station to the next within a specific time.

Building on individual perseverance and teamwork as well as focusing on high performance, each transitional point brings runners and the community together in discovering, and reigniting the Japanese culture and spirit along the race route.

Runners can then look forward to a Matsuri (祭り) inspired festival that showcases different Japanese foods, games and cultural activities after their run.

Here’s how Mizuno Ekiden works:

The start / end points and transition area are all within the race village at The Promontory @ Marina Bay, (11 Marina Boulevard, Singapore 018940). The first runner will wear the traditional tasuki sash. Upon finishing the relay route, the sash will be passed on to the second runner waiting at the transition area – this will repeat until the fourth runner finishes his/her relay route.

While waiting for your teammates to finish the race, enjoy an exciting line-up of Japanese gourmet and cultural activities at the Matsuri (祭り) Festival race village!
